Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences (IPPE)
Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences (IPPE) begins upon completion of the first year of pharmacy school and are based in community and institutional settings. The sum of all IPPE rotations will consist of no less than 320 total hours. Students are required to successfully complete all first year (P1) courses in order to begin their first IPPE rotation.
IPPE I – Community Pharmacy Practice
Introduces students to the pharmacist’s roles and responsibilities by shadowing, observing, and interacting with pharmacists in a community practice settings.
IPPE II – Institutional Pharmacy Practice
Introduces students to the pharmacist’s role and responsibilities by shadowing, observing, and interacting with pharmacists in an institutional practice settings such as hospitals. Students are required to successfully complete all second year (P2) courses.
IPPE III – Clinical Pharmacy Practice
Serves as an introductory rotation to prepare students to enter their advanced pharmacy practice experiences. These rotations are typically in an ambulatory and acute care settings with clinical faculty members.
A copy of the Intern License must be uploaded in E*Value. Students will be instructed on how to obtain an intern license in the fall semester of their first professional year.
