APhA-ASP at CHSU participated in Feeding Families Resource Fair

On Saturday, November 19, 2016, APhA-ASP at CHSU participated in Feeding Families Resource Fair. At the event, APhA-ASP provided four services to the community: Blood Sugar Assessment, Blood Pressure Assessment, Generation Rx, and Medication Therapy Management. The event ran for an exciting 5 hours and in that time, we have positively impacted 245 patients!

The organizers of the Feeding Families Resource Fair were very appreciative of the services we were able to provide to the community. We could not have done this without our great advisors Dr. Richardson and Dr. FakhriRavari, as well as great help from Dr. Kondo.

Thank you to our APhA-ASP student volunteers and faculty advisors, CUSD students, and our pre-pharm students for the event volunteers that helped at this event:

APhA-ASP at CHSU Students: Fouad Boulbol, Hien Nguyen, Jesse Singh, Renzio Apostol, Gabe Negrete, Andrea D’Souza, Mai Lee Yang, Evan Yang, Giovauna Alberre, Leticia Ordonez, Chris Schene, Mina Al-Shahed, Sobhi Bains, Kenya Covarrubias, Alex Pham, Parth Patel; APhA-ASP at CHSU Faculty: Dr. Kondo, Dr. Richardson, Dr. FakhriRavari; CUSD Students: Kiana Castillo, Jillian Camacho, Erin Davenport, Autumn Deleon, Jennifer Her; Pre-Pharm Students: Gurpreet Kaur, Mei Chau, Cinthiya Chander.

On Sunday, November 20, 2016, APhA-ASP also volunteered to cook for 50 people at Terry’s House. Terry’s House is a residential complex which is located directly across the street from Community Regional in downtown Fresno. Families can eat, sleep and recharge at Terry’s House while waiting to bring their loved one home from the hospital.

Terry’s House provides a compassionate and supportive environment to make it possible for families to stay close to their loved one in their time of need at a fraction of a cost compared to a hotel.

On Monday, November 21, 2016, CHSU faculty, staff and students raised $384 to be donated to Terry’s House during the CHSU Friendsgiving event on campus! APhA-ASP also donated 50 cans of food Terry’s House.

Thank you for everyone for their donations, and a special thank you to Dr. Richardson, Dr. Kondo, Parth Patel, and Hien Nguyen for their hard work Sunday cooking a delicious early Thanksgiving Dinner.
